A New Level of the Food Pyramid

Shocking as it may be, a previously hidden level of the food pyramid has been discovered.  Why this level has, up until now, been hidden is not as yet clear.

What does this ‘consume most of’ level prescribe?

Tea. Yes, this startling new discovery recommends the consumption of tea in greater quantities than any other food or beverage.

Prior to this discovery people had believed that fruits and vegetables were the ‘consume most of’ category.  This new discovery has thrown foodists into a quandary. However, to members of the community who have, for some time, recommended mass consumption of tea, the new discovery comes as no surprise.  Such people have long maintained that tea is both a refreshment and a food group, and claim that a person can survive on tea alone.  Some of these people have even gone so far as to forego food for five to seven days subsisting solely on tea, and water, to demonstrate the sustainability of tea.

Tea, they claim, refreshes mind and body.  Does it keep them awake at night when consumed in excessive quantities?  They say no, and go so far as to state the only thing that keeps people awake at night is ‘worry’, and they further claim that tea helps them to relax and hence tea-drinkers do not ‘worry’ about life problems as much as non-tea-drinkers.

Startling revelations? Not to the tea drinkers.

The food pyramid has always been studied in accordance with proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, fats and sugars, but the discovery of this new level has prompted an entirely new look at the pyramid. The new discussion is from the perspective of mood and emotional effects caused by food. The time when nourishment of the physical body was all that was important, is over.  As humanity has evolved, on a spiritual level, people have begun to notice the effects of food upon their physical and emotional well-being.  Perhaps that is why the hidden base level of the pyramid has now been discovered.

On a physical level tea does not contribute as do traditional food pyramid items, but the fact of its emotional and mood enhancing effects can be neither ignored nor denied.  In tense or emotionally trying times a cup of tea has been well known to have a calming effect.  This may be the reason why it is rumoured that , when the British arrived in Gallipoli they had a cuppa of tea before going into battle.

Tea. Seven servings a day, or more.
