We are Responsible for the Children You have not just a responsibility to your own child, but to all children. Do not turn a blind eye when you see a child being hurt. Do something, say something. A child should know love. A child should know trust. A child should be nurtured and protected. The children you raise now are the men and women who will run the world when they reach adulthood. What kind of people do you want running your governments, your hospitals, your businesses, your missions, your schools? Some children will
never reach adulthood. See the warning signs in your society. Help those who you see making the first steps down a pathway that will not serve their highest good. Help them while they are still prepared to accept help. If the difference between a man robbing a shop and not robbing a shop is the loaf of bread and bottle of milk that you are able to give him, GIVE THEM! For your sake and his, give them. If you can help another, help them. If food banks need food for those who have none, give them food. If missions need food to feed the homeless, give them food, and if they need clothing, give what you no longer need, what your children have grown out of. If all you can afford to give is a bottle of milk or a loaf of bread then give only that. If you have too many tomatoes in your garden and they are starting to go to waste, give them to the food banks. Give what you can. You are giving to a brother and a sister. The difference between your giving and not giving, may be a child who grows up to believe that people are innately good, or that people don’t care about anyone but themselves. Care about other people. You are not in this world alone. Care about those you live alongside, care about those you pass in the street. Look a beggar in the eye, and show respect. Show respect to all people. You are no better than them. Look at your world through humble eyes, with a humble heart. Look at all people with a humble heart. Let go of your criticisms, your resentments, your judgments, you pride. Do not seek vengeance. Seek understanding. Seek to know why things came together they way they did. Make this world a safe place for the children. Do not stand back and allow the six year old to be beaten to death. You can make a difference if you just do one thing. Care. (Dedicated to Coral)
